Obama Makes VP Decision

Monday, August 25th, 2008

After much speculation and weeks of anticipation, Senator Obama finally made his decision about who to select to be his VP running mate - Senator Joseph Biden from Delaware. This is likely to be the most important decision that Obama will make during his campaign, and will be the similarly important decision when McCain makes his decision later this week. Why is it such an important decision? Well, it signals to the American public how well each candidate will make decisions and whether they will make them for the good of the country or for political expediency. Using a preliminary look at Senator Obama’s decision, he seemed to correctly weigh the ability of his running mate to serve as Vice President with distinction, as well as to serve as President should it be required of him, as a more important factor than assisting him win electoral votes.
